While out on friday evening for satay takeaway, I noticed the steering was heavy and the warning lights came on for the battery and handbrake. On the way back, the temp rose to 2/3.

I took a look but it was too dark to see anything so decided to drive slowly back the 8km. Halfway there, there was a snapping sound.

The two beltings had given way. One was totally shredded and the other, shorter (alternator?) belt was about to snap.

I've replaced the two belts. But today the same lights came on on the dashboard. the steering felt heavy. i think I'll replace the 3 year old Bosch MG battery.

Any ideas as to what is wrong apart from the belt? I don't think the engine was too overheated since the fans were working and the radiator fluid/water didn't dry up.

Have you check the brake

Have you check the brake fluid tank? If the fluid level is low, the indicator will turn on.

bro, if u just changed the

bro, posiblility is the main pulley (from the crankshaft, and the one that holds 2 belt) might be bengkok dy because 2 belt wont putus just like that. there is always a problem that caused it to happen. it happen to me b4 where the belts spins, is not straight (alignment sudah lari)...where it moves left n right. as u drive faster the belt tends to spin faster. thats where the belts are eaily out of positions and easily to putus.

**If u one the original pulley i got extra 1 at home, as when i bought my new engine it comes with one so i just put the one from the new engine n kept my old one. if u want u can call me at 019-6741816. Cheers!

I've left the car at home

I've left the car at home for this week since I'm absolutely strapped for time. Will give you a call Poon if my mechanic confirms the diagnosis. thanks bro.

I'm thinking of changing the battery since the alternator might be damaged if I let the batt get too old. This happened to my other car last year.

The Bosch is surprisingly longlasting. I put it in in June 2006 and still no problems whatsoever.

Today Jason called and racun me to change the engine. Seriously, if it was me driving it daily, I'd have done it long ago.

The loan will be done next month. I think this is just the Universe's way of telling me to get the Mazda6.....hehehehe...
