Hi guys,

Just would like to know what type of engine oil using on your Lantis, which one you think should be recommended...I just changed mine with Petronas Sythium, thinking to try on Q8 or Royal Purple for next oil change.

william, i'm using endless

william,

i'm using endless engine oil 10w/40 semi synthetic. but i dont u recommend to use Q8 coz it makes yr engine very rough, engine very loud when high rev. its best to stick with what engine oil u r using if it doesnt give u tepet sound.

Thanks, Q8 not recommended?

Thanks, Q8 not recommended? Last time I always used AC Delco on my previous 1.6L, and so far have tried AC Delco and Bardahl on my KF, see how Petronas performed.

Actually magnatec is not bad

Actually magnatec is not bad too.  But so far, castro edge sport is one that I would recommend.

Bought Petronas because

Bought Petronas 10W40  because currently they have promotion and giving free gift. If Castrol, think only can use Magnatec 10W40.

well i trust what ferrari uses!!! when mega bucks go into developing a motor oil with formula one u know u cant go wrong

smaller independant companies just dont have the budget or the technical know how to keep with the current petrochemical technologies needless to say ure paying a premium price for an older  developed motor oil.

need i say more?

I no longer use

I no longer use Ferrari-preferred oil (Shell) because Ferrari is now no-body in F1.  No one remembers third or fourth place finishers.  I only choose winning oil.. and right now my engine share the same lubricant with BRAWN GP... ENEOS... huhuhu... hehehehe

Anyone use cooking oil ?

Someone sent me an email about using cooking oil to replace normal engine oil.

Please read below :

a simple test will be enough

a simple test will be enough for this palm oil.. just pour into the frying pan and heat it on gas stove for 3 minutes... it will be water-like in viscosity... it will be like dat also in your engine... save RM100 and lose RM1500 for new engine transplant.

Why no one consult Jason? He

Why no one consult Jason? He sells engine oil...lol

Anyway, have previously being using Q8 + Tuffoil. Not bad.

But soon changed to Motul and found Motul is more "smooth". Yeah, like Poon mentioned; Q8 more "rough" unless you add in Tuffoil. But than again, rough is good for old engine which cures my tappet sound. =)

Idemitsu is the oil they use for current Honda service. Have used it since I get my "supply" from a a friend working in Honda. Not my liking. But since I can get it "cheaper" I'm using it...... =P

Ever heard about...

Have u guys ever heard about one Italian brand called Selenia. I surely recommend it coz all my Fiat & Alfa customers love it... I felt like a never ending "steam"... (bahasa kasar skit)

2 litres cost 50+ only (they don't have 4-litres packing lar)

Er... Ferrari uses Shell TMO not Helix as their standard oil from the factory... But they still uses Selenia too

PS: Selenia is under Petronas now...
